Sons of Anarchy

This show is the shit. It's like the Sopranos and the Shield - the main characters are bad, but you still root for them. It's about a California biker gang (The Sons of Anarchy) and their antics. It's got Ron "Beast" (of Beauty and The) Perlman as the lead biker, and mostly a bunch of no-names with the exception of Katie "Peg Bundy" Segal.

The word on the street is that it has overtones of Hamlet, though having never read it I couldn't really say.

Bad ass show. I'm 7 episodes in in 2 days. Digging it.

What, I just watched the first two episodes and they are full of talent.
Tommy Flanagan, Chibs, was in Braveheart, Gladiator, AVP, Sin city, smokin aces, etc..
Kim Coates, Tig, is canadian. He was in Pearl Harbour, black hawk down, and recently on Prison Break. like him lots.
Ryan Hurst, opie, did postman, patch adams, remember the titans.

anyway, solid cast and great so far. I'm hooked.

Shit. My almost non-existent ability to remember people and faces strikes again!

I'm so hooked! Eleven episodes in 3 days. I want to watch more right now, but the wife is watching some gay as show on TV.

Same producers as the Shield. That's why. The main writer for the show was one of the main writers for the Shield. A couple of the directors too, worked on the Shield.

Almost done season 1. It's pretty good, and definitely worth watching, but not as gripping as The Shield was. Maybe it's not fair to try and compare the two, but having the same writer, etc..., I can't help it. I think what the Shield had over this one is that the main characters had many more shades of gray. They had good and bad and you really didn't know whether rooting for them was right or not. This series makes it easy. Yeah, they're bikers and do awful shit, but only to awful people. They stick up for the weak and are practically heroes in a sense. They never really bother anyone other than these assholes who have it coming to them. In The Shield, Vic was loyal to his family and the team, but he did some nasty nasty shit for very selfish reasons too. You wanted to be on his side but could never completely get there.

Also looking forward to Breaking Bad's new season. That's another one that makes you want to root for the guy but it's hard to get totally on his side cause while his intentions are noble, his actions end up having fairly evil consequences.

Just finished season one. Pretty good but certainly not up there with the wire or sopranos. Will be very interesting to see how the second season goes.

Just finished season 2 and MAN were the last few minutes crushingly unsatisfying... Season two was so good too, much better than the first. Very disappointed to be let down by the last little bit.

That's pretty much how I felt at the end of season 2.

Sure, but isn't it nice when writers don't just give you what you want? In life, shit happens. As long as it stays within the bounds of the show's reality, throwing you a curve ball here and there is a good thing, IMO.

I don't agree. The show isn't real life, it's purely entertainment. And they could have ended season 2 in a much more entertaining and satisfying way.
